When one wants a woody scent that is mild and yet stimulating, Cedar Bark is a great choice. Kurt Schnaubelt, in his wonderful book Medical Aromatherapy, states that Cedar wood “counteracts water and lipid retention and is therefore a staple in compositions against cellulite. It is a gentle and powerful stimulant of the circulatory system.” It has a deep, sustained effect rather than the sharper oils such as oregano as thyme. It has a calming centering effect and can be beneficial to the skin.
